I also wanted to say that another thing I counsel folks on prenatally is to set aside money to have a private LC come into their home should they need help. I talk about what it means hormonally and for the learning process to be at home, with someone who can really take the time. And I joke if they don’t need those services ultimately, they have some good take-out money. I don’t want money to be a stressor if they need lactation assistance. Particularly since the value is SO high and it really isn’t that much money in both the scheme of having a baby and looking at formula costs.

Thanks again – and it was awesome to see so many faces I usually only see as names on a screen. Thanks to Carolyn for hosting the space. And DSW for putting it together!! Lea

Yes, I can see how it would be painful:(. It is just lousy when our biology doesn't quite work the way it is supposed to. And even though there is lots of information about grieving about infertility or miscarriage or a disappointing birth experience there isn't much about grieving for a disappointing breastfeeding experience. I don't know of much beyond the MOBImotherhood.org site. I'm sorry about the stress you feel. BTW - I think I fixed the link.

It’s a nice video, but I feel all sorts of stress watching it, because no relaxed approach worked for me. FYI, the link is to a postpartum website, but copying & pasting the URL works.

I’d agree that it’s too bad that this was something new for the judge — but I’m looking on the positive side here. Sometimes it takes baby steps to change people’s attitudes and normalize things.
